Blackboard Collaborate retires after Spring 2019

With the introduction of the new Online Meetings tool in UVACollab, the Blackboard Collaborate/Live Online Meetings tool is being retired on Friday, May 24, 2019. After its retirement, the Blackboard Collaborate/Live Online Meetings tool will no longer appear in any sites in which it was added, and any previously recorded sessions will no longer be available to access or download.

Before the tool is retired, site owners or administrators should convert and download any previously recorded sessions that they would like to retain.

Site participants can now use the new Online Meetings tool to create, join, and record meetings in UVACollab.

Visit the Blackboard Collaborate/Live Online Meetings tool in your site.

In most sites, the tool is called Blackboard Collaborate. If you created sites using one of the SCPS templates, the tool is called Live Online Meetings.

Select the Recordings tab, then select the name of the session to be converted.

To create a version of the session that includes audio only, select the Start Conversion link for MP3 (Audio). To create a version of the session that includes audio and video, select the Start Conversion link for MP4 (Video).

An In Progress message will display during the conversion process.

The length of the conversion process varies based on the size of the session file. A smaller session file will convert quickly; a larger session file may take up to one hour to convert.

After the conversion process is complete, select the icons or play buttons to open the converted session.

After the conversion process is complete, you have two options to open the converted session in the Recordings tab:

  1. Select the Audio (headphones) or the Video (filmstrip) icon to open the audio or video file of the session.
  2. Select the name of the session to open the information panel, then select the Play (headset) or Play (filmstrip) button to open the audio or video file of the session.  

Select the Download icon to download the session.

The converted session will open in a new tab or window of your web browser. Select the Download icon to download the session.

  1. Add the Online Meetings tool to your site.
  2. Enter the meeting details and settings to schedule your meeting.
  3. Join the meeting.  

Download the Zoom app and use it to join your meetings automatically, or join with your web browser if you prefer.
