What is the Web Content tool?
The Web Content tool allows site owners and administrators to add a link to a web site or to a Resources folder or file in their UVACollab site's Tool Menu.
For steps to create each type of Web Content link, see:
- How do I make a link to a web page appear in the Tool Menu?
- How do I make a link to a Resources folder appear in the Tool Menu?
- If you add a link with a non-secure (http://) URL to a Web Content tool, it will always open in a new window. Some secure (https://) links, such as links to HTML pages created and stored within your site's Resources folder can be opened within the main UVACollab window.
- For instructions on how to add this or any other tool to your site, see How do I add a tool to my site?
Example of a Web Content link to a web site.
Pictured above is a Web Content link to a web site, where the linked web site has opened in a new browser tab after selecting the link in the UVACollab site's Tool Menu.
Example of a Web Content link to a folder in Resources with other content hidden.
Pictured above is a Web Content link to a folder in Resources. In this example, the site's Resources tool is hidden because the instructor has linked content in the Activities lesson page; however, the Web Content link will allow students access to a specific folder via the Tool Menu.
