How do I embed and edit an image on a page in Lessons?

Instructors can embed images on a page to illustrate concepts and any subjects of the lesson.

There are three ways you can embed an image on a page in Lessons:

To adjust the properties of an image, you can edit the embedded image.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Embed an image from a computer.

Go to Lessons.

Select the Title of the page (e.g., Lessons, Activities, Week: 1) from the tool menu in your site.

Select Add Content.

Select Embed content on page.

In the window that pops up, select Embed content on page. 

Upload the image.

  1. Select the Choose Files or Browse... button, depending on your web browser, to browse for and open a file.
  2. Select Save to embed the content on the page.

Embed an image from Resources.

Go to Lessons.

Select the Title of the page (e.g., Lessons, Activities, Week: 1) from the tool menu in your site.

Select Add Content.

Select Embed content on page.

In the window that pops up, select Embed content on page. 

Choose to select a file from Resources.

Select the Or select existing files from Resources link to select the image from Resources.

Select a file.

In the Actions column, choose Select in the row of the file you would like to embed.

Confirm the file you will embed.

  1. The name of the file to embed appears in the Items to attach column.
  2. Remove any file that you would not like to add to your page by selecting Remove in the same row as the file name.
  3. Select Continue to embed the file.

Tip: You may embed more than one file on your page at once by using the Select button for each file.

Embed an image from a web link or URL.

Go to Lessons.

Select the Title of the page (e.g., Lessons, Activities, Week: 1) from the tool menu in your site.

Select Add Content.

Select Embed content on page.

In the window that pops up, select Embed content on page. 

Enter the link to the image.

  1. Enter the image link into the URL field.
  2. Select Save.

Edit an embedded image.

Go to Lessons.

Select the Title of the page (e.g., Lessons, Activities, Week: 1) from the tool menu in your site.

Select Edit.

Select the pencil and paper (Edit) icon to the right of the content.

Adjust the image properties.

  1. Enter a width and height in pixels (px), such as "600", to adjust the size of the image.
  2. Edit the Alt Text field to make the image more accessible for users of assistive technologies. Learn more in in the article How can I make images more accessible?
  3. Enter a description of the image file in the Item Description field. This description will appear below the embedded image on the page.
  4. To change the file that is embedded, select Change File or URL. Follow the steps in the sections above to embed a new file.
  5. Release this image to specific groups in your site by selecting Edit the groups for which this item should be shown. In the list that appears, select the checkbox next to each group that should see the image.
  6. To prevent the release of the image until all required items above it have been completed, select Don't Release Item Until All Prerequisites are Completed. For more information, see How do I ensure that lesson items are completed in a particular order?
  7. Select Save.
